The Plan

Firm plans, written in the sand, below the high tide mark.

JC and I are going to sail south to warmer waters. On the way we want to learn, teach, and help those we meet. As the plan is very flexible this is more af a guideline than something carved in stone.

1)  Both of us will work until early October. We will repair and equip the Sea Bear,  train ourselves, and improve our physical condition.

2) Around mid-October, we’ll cast off and sail to San Diego. This shake-down cruise will help us catch any last minute system failures, and position us for the start of the Rally.

3) Join the Baja HaHa Rally. This will put us in Cabo San Lucas for our 23rd wedding Anniv., November 8th

4) Perhaps we’ll do the Cruisers’ Thanksgiving in Mazatlan. (We did. 250 sailors at the dinner at Palmera Marina.)

5) Z-town for Christmas and New Year’s.  The cruisers  do a fundraising / school project in early February. (Wonderfull place)

6) Banderas Bay Regatta for cruisers takes place in March (was there, but didn’t participate)

7) Loreto Fest is usually held the first weekend in May

8) Head north, and be in the north end of the Sea of Cortez when June (Typhoon season) arrives. Going to spend June in Oregon to visit family. Then return to the Sea of Cortez till hurricaneseason is over.

We really hope to be able to donate some time,  money, and help to the folks we meet along the way. (We have)

Part Duex -

OK we’re here. We did most everything we planned on, learned a bunch and are thinking of what to do next. I don’t think we’re ready to attempt a circumnavigation. We’re fitter, smarter and more experienced than last year, but a little voice says “wait”. So we shall. Right now we plan of snorkeling, exploring islands in the Sea of Cortez, and then to sail southward in October. Perhaps we can get our Insurance modified to let us out earlier if we accept a larger deductable.  So far our favorite spots have been Mazatlan, La Paz, La Cruz, Zihuatenajo, Manzanillo, heck… almost everywhere we’ve dropped anchor has been great.
